CNUGS 2026

The Christopher Newport University Graduate Summer (CNUGS) workshop is a 3-weeks program for graduate students that expands on the HUGS tradition with new lectures and hands-on activities in cutting-edge fields such as AI and machine learning, alongside its foundation in nuclear and particle physics. Lectures are scheduled to run from Tuesday, May 26, to Friday, June 12, 2026. Students will arrive at Jefferson Lab on Monday, May 26, and depart on Saturday, June 14.

The CNUGS program at Jefferson Lab is an educational summer program designed for experimental and theoretical nuclear and particle physics graduate students who have finished their coursework and have at least one year of research experience in these fields. Students who are well into a research project are also encouraged to apply. The program is simultaneously intensive, friendly, and casual. All lecturers are internationally renowned and leaders in their fields. Acceptance into the program is competitive, and a limited number of scholarships is available.
